I’m Mónica Esquivel, a Mexican painter living in Strathmore, Alberta. My work is inspired by Canadian life and landscapes — the lakes, aspens and mountains around my new home — painted with the colors and heart of Mexico.

I also love teaching. I lead painting classes and Wine & Paint evenings at the Wheatland Society of Arts, where no experience is needed and everyone goes home with a finished piece. It’s amazing to see how each person brings their own style to the same painting.
